              Spouse Pension

              Spouse Pension

If a fund member dies, the surviving spouse may be entitled to a spousal pension from the fund if certain conditions are met.

The conditions are at least one of the following:

              • That a fund member has benefited from a lifetime or disability pension from the fund at the time of death
              • That the fund member has paid a premium in 24 of the 36 preceding months before death
              • That the fund member has paid a premium in 6 of the previous 12 months before death
              • If one of the above conditions is met and the fund member leaves behind a spouse, the surviving spouse is entitled to a pension from the fund.

See the Articles of Association for Festa Pension Fund for more details.

              In General

Spouse's pension generally amounts to 50% of the fund member's rights. It is paid in full for three years and half for the following two years. However, the surviving spouse always receives a spousal pension until the youngest dependent child of the fund member reaches the age of 18, as long as he or she is dependent on the spouse.

If the spouse is disabled and the disability is at least determined to be 50%, spousal pension must be paid for the duration of that disability, provided that the surviving spouse is under 65 years of age.
